Former Missouri Highway patrolman, Jim Lysaght can certainly
make people laugh. He has the ability to take any situation and
give it a funny slant.
Using his first hand knowledge of the effects of drug and alcohol abuse,
while a patrolman, and his ability to provide "laughter with a lesson",
Jim embarked on a career of bringing hard-hitting, informative messages
to kids of all ages. Each year Jim now appears at over 75 schools
throughout the Midwest.
Several of Jim's educational programs are listed below:
Elementary Programs
Grades K-3 - "Icky Stuff" --
Don't put something in your mouth if you don't know what it is. In this
informative program, younger children are taught they should not take
things from strangers of acquaintances without first talking to mom or
dad.
Grades 4-6 - "Good Drugs, Bad Drugs" --
There are good drugs children take for colds, vitamins for a healthy
body, and drugs prescribed by a doctor for a more serious illness. There
are bad drugs offered by someone they don't know, or someone who shouldn't
be giving them drugs. Kids are made aware of both and come away with the
ability to know the difference.
Middle School/Junior High
"Choices and Consequences"
At an age when kids are perhaps the most vulnerable, Jim covers peer Pressure and
not going along with the crowd to be popular. He delivers messages about Drug,
Alcohol, and Tobacco use; feeling left out; feeling accepted; and straying too far
from acceptable society. In short, Good Consequences are a result of Good Choices.
High School and Teen Institutes
"Valuable Living"
This program is suitable for students in either an assembly during teen
institutes or forums. Respect, Responsibility, Family, Trust, and Caring
are the five key points woven throughout this program, along with discussion
about choices highlighting Substance Abuse, Sexuality, and Abstinence.
